• Tao Lin was born in 1983 in the foothills of West Virginia. As a pre-adolescent he rode a tricycle alongside his loving mother. As a teenager he lay on the carpet actually staring into his toy poodle Binky's eyes for considerable lengths of time. As a college student he googled variations of "depressed loneliness novel" and discovered Jean Rhys and read her oeuvre. After carefully researching his role, in the universe, as a depressed person with social problems, he wrote six books. He lives in Brooklyn.
